Travelling on MyBus - A Step by Step Guide

Once you have made your booking and confirmed the times for your journey, next it's time to prepare for that journey.

BE PREPARED

1.  Timings given at the time of booking are approximate and can be subject to movement as we attempt to secure journeys for as many service users as possible.  You should therefore aim to be ready and waiting for the bus at least 10 minutes prior to the booking times given to you.

2.  Where the location and weather conditions allow, you should aim to be waiting at the kerbside when the bus arrives for you. This will allow for speedy boarding and will help reduce instances of late running.

** TIP ** Drivers will not come to your door to alert you they have arrived.  If you cannot wait at the kerbside be sure to have a clear vantage point to see when the bus arrives.

BOARDING THE BUS

1. The driver, in conjuction with your escort if you have one, will give you any assistance you require from the pavement on to the vehicle.

** TIP ** Drivers are unable to enter your home to assist you to the bus. Similarly any assistance provided with the carrying of bags is entirely at the discretion of the driver, so you may wish to consider bringing an escort to assist you.

2. When boarding the vehicle, If you wish the ramp to be lowered please do not hesitate to let the driver know.

3. If you would prefer to board the bus without the assistance of the driver, again just let the driver know.

WHILST ON BOARD

1. After boarding the driver will scan your Scottish Citizens Entitlement Card, collect any fares that may be due and issue tickets for your journey.

2.  Passengers travelling in wheelchairs will be assisted into position:-

  • Rearward facing passengers should ensure brakes are locked.  The driver will lower the support rail for you.

  • Forward facing passengers should ensure brakes are locked.  The driver will use appropriate locking mechanisms to secure your wheelchair.

3. As a guide, bags or other items of luggage should be limited to an amount that you and/or your escort are comfortably able to carry.  Any items brought on to the vehicle should be secured or safely stowed during travel.

LEAVING THE BUS

1. On arrival at your destination, the driver will again give you any assistance you require when leaving the vehicle to reach the pavement.

2. If you have booked a return journey remember to confirm the pickup time and location with the driver. This driver will be able to locate this information from his manifest.
